Have you always wanted to adopt a cat or dog but you can't due to allergies, living arrangements, or other life circumstances?
Do you want to take home every animal you see at the sanctuary but can't even adopt one because you already have a full house?
Do you need to get a present for someone who already has everything?
Did someone ask you what you want as a gift but you already have everything you need and want?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should SPONSOR an ANIMAL that is living at HEA and needs your help!
A year's sponsorship is: $100 for a cat and $150 for a dog
This sponsorship allows the animal's everyday needs to be met while they are staying at the sanctuary as well as helps cover any veterinary care they need throughout the year.
When you become a sponsor for a cat or dog in need at the sanctuary, you will receive a photograph of the animal and a letter from them to tell you how they are doing. You are also more than welcome to schedule a visit.
Feel free to select an animal pictured below that doesn't have a sponsor yet or let us know if you would like us to pick the animal that is in the most urgent need of a sponsor.
Please send sponsorship donations to:

Alfie Hi Everyone. I'm Alfie. It says sponsor me because most people wouldn't be willing to adopt a dog like me because I have some problems controling my bowel and bladder movements. They think what probably happened is I slipped a disc or somehow incurred some nerve damage as that seems the only likely reason for my problem as I haven't always had it. But I do now so its just something that we deal with here at HEA. I still am a more than happy little man. I love to go out and play with the big dogs and chase them around and bite at their ankles! I also greatly enjoy getting attention from the volunteers here. It is so much fun keeping everyone company. So if you want to support my care at HEA, please consider being my sponsor! Maybe even come play with me some day too, that would be way cool! ~Love, Alfie

Buddy Hey, let’s play! Buddy here, looking to have a good time with a family of my own. I was surrendered to Happily Ever After cause I nipped a biker in the back of the calf. I’m not sure what got into me. I think I was confused or something because I am not a mean soul. I also have the a little issue with being grabbed by my collar when I am being sassy. This is how my old owners used to reprimand me and because of that I get a little testy. I need someone that understands my quirks and would love me anyway. My favorite things in the world are playing with other dogs and teasing humans with toys. I really love to have company of the canine or human kind and get very lonely when kept alone. I know I made a mistake in my past but please don’t let that stop you from giving me a future. I promise to love you forever. Jumps and Kisses, Buddy

Princess Hi there! I’m Princess. I’m said to be a Lhasa Apso mix but mixed with what no one knows. Everyone says I look like a senior and of course, they are right, I am 12 years old, but I like to think of myself as a young 12 years. When I come to the Happily Ever After Adoption Center in Green Bay, I become a puppy again. I start doing silly things like having puppy fits rolling around and rubbing against people. I enjoy sleeping next to humans. And when I hear an alarm clock go off, I quick run up by the human’s face and head butt them just to say “hey wake up and pet me”. If you ever wanted a dog that would follow you around the house and be your shadow, I am very good at that! I am good with other calm dogs. Dogs with too much energy and those that jump on me I find annoying and I try to tell them to knock it off…they never take me seriously (those darn young whipper-snappers)! I am even cool with cats! So now that you know that I am a pretty awesome dog, I bet you are wondering why I am here. It’s a very sad story. My daddy, the man I adored, got very sick and his family put him in a nursing home. None of them wanted me, I don’t know why, so they brought me to HEA and said they didn’t want to take care of me and my daddy probably would never be able to take care of me again either. Thanks to HEA, I am safe, alive, and ready for someone to provide me with a loving forever family. That’s not too much to ask, is it? Much love, Princess

Boris Hey there, hi there, ho there, I'm as happy as can be! My name is Boris and I am the handsomest, 2 year old, big guy you will ever meet. I love to play. I will play with people, big dogs, small dogs, cats, whoever wants to have a good time I am there! I am also pretty good at snuggling so if you need a big blanket on a cold windy day, I'm your man. I am at HEA because of an incident that occurred in my last home. My parents had their three year old grandchild over at the house. The three year old was pulling on my ears and blowing in my face. I went to bark at her to tell her it hurt and she put her head forward toward my mouth. My teeth got on her and they brought her to the doctor. Needless to say, my family's insurance company told them that if they didn't get rid of me, they would lose their homeowner's insurance. My dad told HEA that he would rather surrender his granddaughter and keep me if he could but that idea wasn't going over so well with the rest of the family :-). I've been exposed to all sorts of people and kids here at the sanctuary and have never had any problems, its just that the little girl put her head forward while I was barking and I caught her. I didn't try to bite her and when she stuck her head forward I walked away, so I wasn't trying to hurt her. Please give me a chance. I know you won't regret it. I am an excellent, fabulous, wonderful boy! Just ask the people here at HEA! ~Snuggles, Boris Update: I was adopted after writing the above letter, but I had another "biting" incident" in the my new home. No one knows exactly what happened, if I was overwhelmed or why I did it, so HEA is not currently looking to place me in a home but are giving me sanctuary here at HEA. Since I am just chillin' here at HEA, I could really use a sponsor. I never have had any problem with any visitors when I meet them at HEA, so you could even come and say hi to me. The staff here thinks I might just get a little overwhelmed in a home environment (the last people were told not to have lots of people over right away and give me time to adjust, but the day after they got me, they had a first communion party with LOTS of people at the house). So I am told, I'm probably not a bad dog, just been put in some bad situations. However, for now, HEA is the safest place for me to be. |

Charlie Brown My name is Charlie Brown. I am not actually up for adoption and am a life-time resident here at HEA. The reason for this, I have a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde personality. I am good and well-natured 99% of the time, but then that other 1% I can be kind of well, mean I suppose. It's mostly when I am around food, but because of this, HEA doesn't feel comfortable adopting me out. So they are going to take care of me for my life-time. However, because I enjoy eating and treats so much, I could really use a sponsor to help pay for my big appetite! Would you be willing to sponsor me so I can continue to live "happily ever after"? I would love it if you could! ~Nuzzles, Charlie Brown |

Dessi Update: Dessi has been moved to Sponsorship Status only at this time. He is great with volunteers but seems to get stressed and sassy when potential adopters come to visit him. So for now, he is happy here and until we see him get more comfortable with new people, we are going to have him looking for a sponsor only.
Will you scratch my belly please?!? Oh, I suppose I should introduce myself first...I'm Desi. I was rescued from Thyme and Sage Ranch in May 2009 and under court custody until October 2009. Now I am up for adoption and looking for the perfect forever family. They are guessing my age to be about 9 years old but you would never ever think that if you met me, I act like a puppy when I want attention. I also still greatly enjoy rough housing with other dogs...big or small it doesn't matter! I love taking walks and I especially enjoy running in the field with my best human friend at the sanctuary. I would love to have more than one best human friend and even more than that I would love to have a best human family! :-) Would you be my best and forever family?!? ~Belly Scratches Please, Desi PS-Because of where I came from, the people at HEA aren't sure if I have had a home before or not, so they think I am probably housetrained but can't say for sure. I am crate trained. I promise if I am not , I would catch on quick...I am very smart! |

Dutch Hi there, my name is Dutch. I was brought to HEA when my family decided to move and not take me with them. When I got to HEA I was scared and not willing to let anyone come around me and play with me. If I was at a regular shelter they would have euthanized me for sure, but luckily I was here because now I am doing really well. I need someone who understands that I am a little bit of a scaredy cat when I am put into scarey situations and is willing to reassure me that everything is okay. I desperately want to be loved and given back scratches. Could you be my forever friend? I would love a family of my own. Please bring me home soon! ~Love, Dutch PS-I forgot the most important piece of information...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Treats! Update: Dutch has recently been diagnosed with malignant melenoma. We obviously cannot predict how much time with us Dutch has left, but he is looking for someone to sponsor him while he is sick so that we can try some different things to make his quality of life as fulfilling as possible. Dutch would love it if someone would sponsor him so that he can get all the good things dogs deserve while living on this earth! Update: As of March 2010, Dutch is still going strong! It's been around 10 months since he was diagnosed with cancer and nothing is slowing him down. Dutch wants to thank everyone for all the love and support they have sent his way. He is a very happy and loved boy! |

Gigi Look at me, beautiful don't you think? Actually I'm told I'm cute quite often. I am the perfect size and have lots of lovin to give. I can be a little crazy once and a while and jump around but I settle down as soon as you tell me to stop and behave. I listen amazingly well. I love to play with other dogs and love to rough house with the them. I am crate trained and the couple times I have been in a house for "sleepovers" I haven't had any accidents. I came to HEA from a shelter in Missouri where a couple volunteers fell in love with me and wanted to save my life. Thank goodness they did! I am here now and would love to live happily ever after with you! ~Kisses, Gigi |
