About our Cats
Happily Ever After is a NO-KILL sanctuary. HEA does not discriminate against cats coming into our care for any reason. All breeds, ages, and temperaments are accepted at HEA. On any given day, Happily Ever After houses between 120 and 145 cats. The cats are cared for by volunteer staff and community volunteers who come to HEA. Volunteers also take time daily to socialize with the cats.
Upon entering the sanctuary, the cats are put into isolation kennels for approximately 2 weeks. This is only temporary as we monitor them for any health problems as well as have routine vet care attended to such as vaccinations, FIV/FELV testing, spay/neuter etc. After this initial isolation period, the cats at HEA are housed in indoor kitty communities. We have 4 large cat rooms, 7 small cat rooms, a FIV cat room, and a FELV cat room. These community rooms can house anywhere from three cats to fifteen cats ranging in age from kitten to senior.
We believe there is a forever family out there for every cat...even if that forever family is HEA. We work with all the cats that come in to our care. While some cats are ready upon arrival for adoption, others can take months or years to rehabilitate and make ready to live with their forever family. We have adopted out cats that have spent as little as two weeks with us and as long as 3 years. Because HEA accepts cats with behaviors and illnesses some people to not desire to have in their homes, some of the cats we have will live out their lives at Happily Ever After.
No matter who the cat or what the situation was that brought them to HEA, they are loved unconditionally until they find their forever family. |
